About The Moon Boot and Tecnica Founded in Italy in 1936 by the Zanatta family, Tecnica has grown from its humble roots as a manufacturer of sturdy work shoes to a market leader in ski boots, après ski boots, outdoor footwear and the world famous Moon Boot®. Over 40 years ago, Giancarlo Zanatta, the patriarch of Tecnica was inspired by the landing on the moon and what the astronauts were wearing - especially on their feet. This inspiration led to the creation of a piece of iconic footwear - the Moon Boot®.
